PESHAWAR: The Christian community in Peshawar restricted their Christmas celebrations to the big churches where heavy contingents of police had been deployed.

Since Christmas fell on 7th of Muharram this year, the roads in Peshawar were wearing a deserted look.

The traders have also announced to keep the shopping malls closed for three consecutive days during Muharram, therefore a little is available for the Christian community to enjoy the event.

No stalls had been set up in any of the churches due to security threats, while the community was unable to hold any function in open air either.
