Man shot dead

ISLAMABAD, March 9: A man was shot dead by unknown motorcyclists here on Tuesday, police said.

According to the Koral police, Rashid Habib, 30, was shot dead when he was coming back to his home after dropping his nephews at their school. The accused fled from the scene. The police said the reason behind the murder was an old enmity. The police have registered a case against the accused and started investigation.

Murder suspect arrested

ATTOCK, March 9: The Hazro police on Tuesday arrested an absconder who was allegedly involved in the murder of seven members of a family in Kalu Kalah village some three weeks ago.

Sources said that accused Dost Mohammad, who was wanted to the Hazro police in a murder incident of seven family members Atlas Khan including three minor children on February 18, was arrested in an attempt. The police had already arrested five other accused of the incident while the accused Dost Mohammad fled away from the scene at that time.

Elsewhere, Umar Gull, a resident of Rangu village, reported to the Rangu police that he was injure after he was attacked by two unknown armed persons as he came out from his house on Monday. The accused fled away from the scene.

Similarly, Mohammad Akhtar, a resident of Dhoke Gamah, complained to the Attock Saddar police that Mohammad Taj allegedly attacked and injured him with wooden stick over a land dispute.—Correspondent

Motorcyclist killed

ATTOCK, March 9: A motorcycle rider died in a road accident on Attock-Basal road on Monday.

Basal police said Sher Afzal, a resident of Matiyal village, when a speeding coach hit him near Matiyal Chowk as a result of which he died on the spot.—Correspondent

Clinics, hospitals sealed

TAXILA, March 9: Several hospitals and clinics were sealed or challaned on Tuesday for violating drug rules in the twin cities of Wah Cantonment and Taxila, sources said.

A team of district health officials headed byDistrict Quality Control board (DQCB) Secretary Abid Saeed Baig along with drug inspectors Dr Naveed Anwar, Shoaib Akhtar, Malik Arshad Awan, Jawad Ahsan and Muneer Ahmed raided various clinics and hospitals in the twin cities and found violating them the Drug Act 1976.

In Taxila, Ali Family hospital, Al-Shifa Medical center’s medical stores were challaned and sealed for not having drug sale license and warranties of medicines.

In Wah Cantonment, Adnan Daniel Clinic, Muzaffar Khurmi Clinic and Sadaf Medical centre were challaned for violating drub rules. The DQCB secretary warned medical stores, clinics and pharmacies to observe cleanliness, adding strict action would be taken against the violators.—Correspondent

UET Taxila convocation

TAXILA, March 9: The 8th convocation of University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila will be held on March 13.

According to Controller of examination Mehmood Akhtar, Governor Punjab Salman Taseer, who is also the chancellor of the university, will distribute medals and degrees among the graduates who have completed their Phd, MSc and BSc engineering degrees.—Correspondent
