LANDI KOTAL: Twenty dead bodies, believed to be that of militants, were found in Akkakhel area of Khyber tribal region on Monday.

The residents of Khurmatan village in the area found the bodies and informed local administration about that. Security officials claimed that the dead men were militants, who were killed during a ground operation in Khurmatan conducted jointly by the army and Frontier Corps.

They said that several hideouts of militants were also destroyed in the operation. The officials said that security forces were moved into the area from Kohat and Peshawar side to conduct the operation after receiving reports about the presence of some Taliban activists in the area.

Meanwhile, two persons were killed and another was kidnapped in separate incidents in Bara and Jamrud tehsils of Khyber Agency during the last twenty-four hours. Nobody has so far claimed responsibility for any of the criminal acts.
